Happy New Year to all you savvy online shoppers out there! I hope that your holiday was a safe and happy one. But now it’s time to get back down to business… the business of saving money, that is!

With winter very much upon us, we need to make sure that our vehicles can handle whatever the season throws at them. There’s snow, ice, freezing temperatures, and more to think about. Here are a few things to think about when winterizing your car:

  • Are your tires in good shape? If the tread is getting low, now would be a good time to replace them. Tires that have seen their better days and snowy or icy roads simply don’t mix.
  • How is your battery? A low battery can’t muster the juice to start your car when temperatures are freezing. If you’re having trouble cranking it, the battery and alternator are among the first things you should check.
  • Have you got what you need to remove ice from your windshield? If you wait for the defroster to take care of it, you could be waiting a long time. Some liquid deicer and a good ice scraper will help you get on the move much faster.
